Talks break down, possibilities remain…Arsenal want GK Raya

English Premier League (EPL) side Arsenal could be in the hunt for goalkeeper David Luiz (28-Brentford).

According to The Athletic, the Gunners are expected to have their release clause for Laya rejected on Friday. It’s not that the deal has fallen through. ‘The offer is slightly below Brentford’s asking price, but both sides are continuing negotiations to finalize a deal,’ The Athletic added.

Arsenal are not alone in their pursuit of Laya, with German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich also in the running. ‘Laya is favoring a move to Arsenal, where he would be reunited with former Brentford goalkeeping coach Inaki Kana,’ according to The Athletic. Raya’s current contract runs until June 2024. Arsenal are hoping to sign Lahaya to give Aaron Ramsdale competition for the number one spot.

If there’s a variable, it’s the status of backup goalkeeper Matt Turner. ‘Arsenal’s chances of signing Raya depend on the departure of Turner, who is currently Ramsdale’s backup,’ says The Athletic, adding that ‘Nottingham Forest, who are planning to sign two goalkeepers, are in talks to sign the US international’.메이저사이트

Laya, meanwhile, made 38 EPL appearances last season, conceding 46 goals. He was one of the key players in Brentford’s ninth-place finish in the league.
