Lively from Samsung, ERA 23.63… Demote to Minor Camp

It is not easy for Ben Lively (31) from the Samsung Lions to try again in the big leagues.

According to, the official website of Major League Baseball (MLB) on the 8th (Korean time), the Cincinnati Reds sent 7 invited players, including Lively, to the minor league camp. Lively signed with Cincinnati in November of last year and was digesting camp as a non-roster invited player. However, he pitched in 3 exhibition games, lost 1먹튀검증, and had an average earned run average of 23.63 (11 hits and 7 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings), and eventually lost the opportunity to compete.

Lively wore a Samsung uniform as a substitute for Deck McGuire in August 2019. He went 10-12 with a 4.05 earned run average over three seasons before being released in June 2021. After leaving the KBO League due to a shoulder injury, in January of last year, he signed a contract with Cincinnati, his “parent team,” and embarked on a “big league re-challenge.” However, he stayed at minor league Triple-A all year. His performance was 2-5 with a 4.09 earned run average in 18 starts. A question mark was placed on his future after the season, but his choice was Cincinnati again.

Lively’s challenge, which attracted attention, ended in failure. On the 27th of last month, against the San Francisco Giants (2 runs on 4 hits in 2/3 innings) and against the Oakland Athletics on the 2nd (2 runs on 2 hits in 1 inning), he gave up 2 consecutive runs and was sluggish. Then, on the 6th, in the match against Oakland, he was named to the minor league list after showing 5 hits and 3 runs in 1 inning.
