Becky Hammon, a candidate for the first female head coach in the National Basketball Association (NBA), has been disciplined by the WNBA secretariat.
Local media such as ‘AP’ reported on the 17th (Korean time) that Las Vegas Aces manager Hammon was suspended for two games.
The reason for her disciplinary action is that she unfairly harassed a pregnant team player. She was known when Dereka Hamby, who also played in the Korean women’s professional basketball team KB Stars in the past, made a complaint.

“Trading is part of the business,” Hamby wrote on Instagram after being traded from Las Vegas to the Los Angeles Sparks in February. He is not lied to, ridiculed, manipulated, discriminated against,” he wrote, claiming that he was harassed by a Las Vegas club because he was pregnant.
League officials launched an investigation, which ultimately determined manager Hammon had violated league policy and decided to discipline him.
His team, Las Vegas, was also stripped of its first-round pick in the 2025 draft for violating rules. The reason the 2025 draft pick was forfeited instead of the 2024 was because the 2024 first round pick was already used in a trade스포츠토토.
“Maintaining the values of integrity and fairness is very important to us,” said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert. The Aces club did not abide by the league rules and regulations and were disciplined accordingly. We are saddened by these violations and will do our best to uphold standards while implementing enhanced training across all WNBA teams.”
The WNBA Players Union expressed strong regret over the severity of the disciplinary action, saying it was “a punishment for missing the core.” They insisted that tougher discipline should have come out, saying, “There is no sign that a player’s dignity cannot be manipulated and that respect at work must be a top priority.”
