Samsung Lions fall to third straight loss as trusted ace collapses at home in Daegu. The KT Wiz swept Samsung for their fourth straight win.
Coming off back-to-back losses, Samsung sent David Buchanan to the mound against KT on April 27 at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu. However, Buchanan gave up five runs on 11 hits in four innings, and the Wiz lost the game 2-5 with no clue of a comeback.
The ace was tasked with being the bridge to a winning streak, the ‘streak stopper’ to break the losing streak. With a losing streak on the line, Samsung was hoping Buchanan would be called upon on the 27th. Buchanan had only won one game in four starts this month, but he had a 1.73 ERA.
On this day, however, Buchanan was unable to stop the KT bats. After giving up back-to-back singles to Moon Sang-chul and Oh Yoon-seok in the top of the second inning, he got two batters out before giving up a squeeze bunt to Kim Min-hyuk to open the scoring. He gave up a single to Kim Sang-soo, who was once Samsung’s center fielder.
In the top of the third, back-to-back singles put runners on second and third with no outs. He walked the next two batters, but was replaced by Kang Baek-ho, who hit a two-run double. In the top of the fourth, he gave up back-to-back singles to the next three batters먹튀검증.
Samsung’s bats, on the other hand, were limited to four scattered hits. KT starter Wes Benjamin (5 innings, 4 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs) was a bit shaky, but he couldn’t quite get going. Kang Min-ho’s solo home run in the bottom of the second inning was the only run Benjamin could muster.
There were chances to turn the game around. In the bottom of the fifth, Lee Tae-hoon walked and Lee Jae-hyun and Kim Hyun-joon singled to load the bases. However, they could only add one run. Pinch-hitter Kang Kang-ul struck out and Yoon Jung-bin picked up a fielder’s choice, but on the next at-bat, Kim Dong-jin’s throw was caught right by pitcher Benjamin, ending the inning.
